The dispute between Brisbane Roar Soccer Club and Queensland Rugby has reportedly been resolved outside the Court room.
As reported in our previous news piece, Insolvency and Soccer Part III: Clash of the Codes, Queensland Rugby filed a winding up application of Brisbane Roar Soccer Club. The application was due to be heard on Wednesday last week in the Queensland Supreme Court however the dispute has apparently been settled between the parties, resulting in the dismissal of the winding up application. The terms of settlement between the parties are confidential.
This however does not appear to the end of the insolvency woes for the Hyundai A-League Club. The club owners, the Bakrie Group, continue in their attempts to urgently sell the club.
Various media agencies continue to report that player’s wages remain unpaid which casts significant doubt over the solvency of the club. This is in light of the Bakrie Group refusing to inject any further funding into the club.
Football Federation Australia (FFA) placed further pressure on the club to make the payments on time, with the player’s union, Professional Footballers Australia, seeking the FFA to step in and take control of the club.
