A builder has recently been ordered to perform community service, ordered to pay costs and placed on a 12 month good behaviour bond by the Wyong Local Court for issuing fraudulent Home Warranty Certificates, purporting to be from Vero Insurance, to a number of persons in connection with the construction of a property at Lindfield in breach of the Crimes Act 1900 (NSW).
This is a useful reminder that homeowners should confirm the validity of any certificate of home owners warranty insurance with the issuing insurer before proceeding with any building works.
