The Role
ERA Legal is a commercial law firm with specialist teams in Litigation, Loan + Securities and Construction + Projects. We are seeking a highly motivated paralegal / law clerk to support our Loan + Securities team.
Our Loan + Securities team clerks are heavily involved in matters and depended upon to perform a variety of tasks. This role is for a law student who is available to work a minimum of 4 days per week (or 3 full days + 2 half-days) in-semester and full time during semester breaks. We will accommodate reasonable study leave.
Specific activities include:
- Preparation and review of loan, security and other commercial documents
- Performing searches and registrations with various Land Title offices and government agencies
- Managing PEXA, an online conveyancing platform
- Administrative management of matters
- Calendar and deadline management
Interested Candidates
While previous experience in a law firm is not required, to be considered for this role, you need to:
- Have an interest in commercial law (not litigation – this is not a litigation role)
- Be able to work at least 4 full days per week or 3 full days + 2 half-days
- Be proactive and diligent with fine attention to detail
- Have initiative and always be looking for ways to contribute
- Be unfazed by conflicting demands and priorities, often with tight deadlines
- Be able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure
- Have a thirst for knowledge and the early development of a career
The role presents an opportunity for the successful candidate to develop and apply real world legal skills in a busy commercial litigation practice with the goal of transitioning to a further role post-appointment.
