A year ago we brought you the story of a UK company mistakenly wound-up following a typographical error on the part of the Court in A very expensive typo.
Yesterday there were echos of those facts locally when the daily Insolvency Notices email, which lists the companies subject to winding-up proceedings each day, identified the ANZ Bank as being subject to winding-up proceedings commenced by the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation.
Thankfully for ANZ shareholders and customers, the listing arose due to a typo in the ACN entered into the publisher’s system. The error was quickly identified and corrected.
This stands as a salient reminder that any content being published online should be checked carefully before release, and for swift corrective action to take place when a mistake happens.
